Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have played 3 matches in the IPL so far and have lost 2 of them. DeVilliers missed the first two matches but made an outstanding return in the third match against Kings XI Punjab by scoring an incredible 89* of 46 balls. However, his knock wasn’t enough as RCB lost convincingly but it assured fans that he RCB’s batting in the rest of the matches would be in safe hands.
Now, all eyes are on their run machine and original skipper Virat Kohli, who is nursing a shoulder injury. Kohli was in sparkling form in the last season of the IPL, scoring 4 hundreds in the tournament and won the ‘Orange Cap’ award for scoring the most number of runs in the tournament.
Virat Kohli has been practising with the RCB camp right from the start of the tournament but he wants to be 120% fit before he takes the field in RCB colours. In an interview during RCB’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the RCB captain said that he doesn’t want to take any risk as the ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place immediately after the IPL 2017.
However, it looks like we will see Virat Kohli on the field quickly. Kohli posted a video of himself doing weight training. More important though was the caption next to it. “Can’t wait to get back onto the field. Almost there now. 14th April”
RCB will take on Mumbai Indians on 14th April at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
